We are excited to announce that 2017 Bursary recipient Oscar Toeman has recently become the Baylis Director at the The Old Vic, a prestigious position that will allow him to direct a full-scale play at the venue and shadow Artistic Director, Matthew Warchus.

Oscar received a bursary in 2017 to develop his craft and foster international relationships by participating in the Lincoln Centre Director’s Lab in New York, where he was asked to be the Associate Director in their production of Oslo when it transferred to the National Theatre and later to the West End. He has since been awarded the JMK Runner Up Award in 2019 and directed two shows at the Orange Tree Theatre: The Sugar Syndrome by Lucy Prebble in 2020 and The Misfortune of the English by Pamela Carter in 2022.
