2022 Bursary

The sixth round of Bursaries in 2022 saw awards made to 19 theatre makers

They represented a wide range of disciplines, from choreographers and composers to set and costume designers, plus MGCfutures’ very first carpenter.

2022 also saw collaborations between MGCfutures and the following organisations: London Performance Studios, supporting their new role of Cultural Entrepreneur; Dance Base in Edinburgh, supporting a Hip-Hop Dance Artist Traineeship; and South House, supporting a Creative Development Residency at their studio in Faversham.

The sixth round also included two bursaries awarded in memory of Costume Supervisor Stephanie Arditti. Theatrical Milliner Lauren Martin received funds to help her purchase new hat blocks and Claire Powell’s bursary funded a new workroom complete with sewing machine and industrial iron. These awards were generously supported by designer Christopher Oram.

We remain grateful to MGCfutures Patron Nicole Kidman for supporting the charity for two consecutive years. Nicole Kidman has a special interest in building the profile of women in the theatre industry and in 2022 her donation supported producer Bethany Cooper.
